Another day and another Dwight Howard trade request. Oh wait, he didn't request a trade, no he did to Los Angeles...scratch that he only wants to play for Orlando. WAIT! It's Brooklyn or bust now.
Any sensible sports fan that has remotely followed Howard's saga over the last couple of years has got to be fed up by now. And what about those fans in Orlando? Are you still going to cheer for this guy if he is wearing a Magic jersey when the season begins once again?
Howard was once known as one of the good guys in the NBA. He seemingly always had that bright smile on his face and was loved in just about every arena in the country.
"Superman" has now seen his reputation, credibility, and popularity fall from the sky.
Statistically speaking Howard would be a great addition to any team. He has a career average of 18 points and 13 rebounds; but what kind of chemistry would he bring to your team?
On the surface it appears Howard has put the Orlando franchise in a state of disarray. He is blamed by many for the firing of Stan Van Gundy, and his temper tantrums off the court has put a stronghold on the progression of the Magic as they attempt to accomplish their goals.
In addition to all of the Howard's theatrics, many people also forget he is recovering from back surgery.
I guess we should be used to this by now. Professional athletes are completely out of tune with reality.

Really? Is it his fault that in his trade, you can't change jobs as you want? Would you like it if you hated your place of work and were forced to remain there for 2 years? The only players who can keep their trade demands quiet are those no one really cares about. If the media is interested in you, there's no way you can keep a lid on anything (look at all the leaks during contract negotiations, from inside sources - in other terms, someone on the payroll of one of the two sides negotiating).
As far as his antics for his current team, that's actually a pretty decent strategy: try to piss your employer off so that he will actually want to fire you. I agree that it's classless, but nice guys don't get to the top of the pile, but it's not like he really has a choice: the Magics have to want to trade him, or he'll stay there until the end of his contract.

The Decision Pt. 2!
As much as I'm fed up with the immaturity of Howard (and several other stars of NBA), I still want him on my team. For one reason: he's arguably the best center in a league FULL of mediocore centers. His technical skill at his position is sad in comparison to Ewing, Olajuwon, Abdul Jabbar etc, and yet he's STILL better than more than half the league!

Bottom line. Yes he is worth the drama. (Although not to Orlando, it's over.)
If he gets focused he could be a combination of Hakeem and Shaq.
Right now it's all fun and games (like melo) but if he gets the hunger (like LeBron finally did) he could be a devastating centre.
With the right team and a little maturity he could make a championship contender.
Him and Kobe could make the Lakers scary again.
So yes, he is worth the drama, but it's gotta be the right team.
